Kenneth Lee for Calvert Commissioner

"It's time to stop the corruption, stop the lies, and stop all this spending. We need to get the proper people into proper offices to ensure we have a better place to live."

My platform to Restore Calvert!

Data Centers

Data Centers

Data Centers

STOP DATA CENTERS! Data centers will cost Calvert County residents outrageous amounts of money. They will destroy our beautiful waterways and ruin the watermen's livelihoods. They release by-products and are a huge harm to our health.

Lower Taxes

Lower taxes in Calvert County is a key component of my platform.  I will adjust property tax rates by: strategic budgeting and efficiency, cutting spending, conducting performance audits, taking preventive action, and ending tax breaks that shift the tax burden away from corporations and onto families and small businesses.

Infrastructure

No more high-density building! We need to keep our county rural. The current commissioners platformed off of keeping it that way however, they continue to approve all the building that is going on around the county.

Budget

  • Expand zero-based budgeting
    • Require every department to justify every dollar spent
    • Rank all services from essential to nice-to-have
    • Ensure taxpayer dollars are directed where they matter most
  • Delay or scale back large projects
    • Postpone new building projects when necessary
    • Phase major capital projects over longer timelines
    • Prioritize public safety and critical infrastructure
  • Slow hiring instead of layoffs
    • Reduce hiring through attrition
    • Do not automatically replace retiring employees unless the position is essential
    • Consolidate roles where possible to improve efficiency
  • Cut or cap discretionary spending
    • Reduce travel and conference expenses
    • Limit consultant contracts
    • Review grants to non-essential programs
    • Reduce unnecessary marketing and public relations spending
  • Renegotiate vendor contracts
    • Conduct annual audits of all contracts
    • Bid out contracts more aggressively to ensure competitive pricing
    • Use multi-county purchasing agreements to lower costs
    • End programs and contracts that do not deliver measurable results
  • Prevent surprise shortfalls
    • Improve long-term financial forecasting
    • Build safeguards into the budget process
    • Increase transparency and accountability in spending decisions
